BA (Hons) Counselling – Top-Up (Year 3)

About The Course

If you have completed FdA Counselling at Orael, this course will allow you to complete a third year to achieve a full BA (Hons) in Counselling. The degree is taught through lectures, discussion of case studies, seminars, tutorials, and participants’ own research.

You will be expected to be in supervised formal counselling, either in work or a voluntary setting, whilst undertaking the course. You will have formal teaching each Monday from 10am – 5pm and will be expected to complete self-study in addition to your counselling hours.

The course will enable you to: critically analyse a wider range of counselling orientations and to develop your own personal integration of these within your practice deepen your knowledge of counselling theory and your ability to put this into practice make links between learned theory and practice.

You will need:

  • To have qualified as a counsellor
  • FdA Counselling or other Level 5 diploma in Counselling that meets BACP requirements
  • A minimum of 100 hours of supervised client work. Counselling must form a substantial part of your current work, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • All applicants must have an initial assessment, complete a written assignment and have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them. Written assignments for Accreditation of Prior Learning will have to be submitted and successfully passed before the start of the programme.
Assessment is by coursework, which includes a research dissertation. This programme is quality assured by Middlesex University and you will receive a Middlesex award on successful completion.

In addition to your tuition fees, there may be additional costs associated with your programme such as ad hoc day trips/excursions e.g. visits to employers or exhibitions. You may incur additional travel costs and on some occasions, entrance fees

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
