Esports – Level 2 Diploma

About The Course

This course will prepare you for further study in esports – also known as competitive gaming – offering you a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creative arts. The esports industry is a fast-growing global industry. In February 2019, Newzoo published its 2019 Global Esports Market Report stating that, in 2018, the global esports market was valued at $655 million USD – this rose to nearly $865 million USD in 2019 and is projected to reach $1.79 billion USD in 2022.

Endorsed by the British Esports Association, you will study a range of topics including designing an esports game, streaming for esports and establishing an esports organisation.

You will need:

  • Three GCSEs at grade 3 or above or above or relevant Level 1 course

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

All units will be assessed internally through projects/assignments to test which are subject to external standard verification. These assessments are to check your understanding, knowledge and application of skills and techniques that help implement the different aspects of running an esports event.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. On successful completion of this course, you could progress higher level courses in Esports, Computing, an apprenticeship or employment.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
