Health and Social Care – Level 2 Extended Diploma

About The Course

This course covers a wide range of vocational units relating to health and social care, specifically designed to help you pursue a career in the sector.

You will learn about a variety of key subject areas, such as equality, diversity, and rights in health and social care, human growth and development through the life span, and the role and responsibilities of the health and social care practitioner in safeguarding individuals. 

30 hours of placement in a real work environment will be arranged by the college for you, providing opportunities for you to apply knowledge to practice, receive feedback, and reflect on your own experience. Placement also provides opportunities for you to observe professional practice in action and gain valuable employability skills.  

The course is spread over two days in college and can be extended to three to include English and Maths.

  • Introduction to mental health
  • Job opportunities in health and social care

 

 

You will need:

  • Three GCSEs at grade 3 or above and GCSE English at grade 4 or above or relevant Level 1 course with Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio. You will also complete 30 hours of work experience on placement.

Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Learners can progress onto supporting roles in a care setting or progress onto the Level 2 Extended Diploma in health and Social Care or a Level 2 in Childcare such as the L2 Early Years Practitioner or level 2 in Caring for Children.
