Introduction to Mentoring and Coaching Skills

About The Course

This course has been designed to help you understand the concept and the aims of mentoring, the roles and responsibilities of a mentor and the boundaries of the role. You will also become familiar with selected models for mentoring, learn how to set targets for your mentees and review their progress, as well as how to evaluate your own performance as a mentor.

You will:

Get an awareness of the key features to becoming an effective coach or mentor; 

Become familiar with how coaching and mentoring processes work;

Become aware of the recognised coaching and mentoring models, and the tools and techniques used to support coachees/mentees

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 3 years or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK – your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be provided. If you’re an EUEEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of ‘Pre-Settled’ or ‘Settled-status’ documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please provide evidence of this).
You will undertake a range of classroom activities which will be monitored and assessed by your teacher.

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
