IT: Software Development – Level 3 Extended Diploma (BTEC)

About The Course

This course develops the knowledge, understanding and skills you’ll need to follow your career pathway in Information Technology. You will work closely with employers, Founders and Coders,  charities such as Local Village network, and Yonder who are integrated into the assessment process, giving you the essential skills to get you ready for the world of work, higher education, apprenticeships, and internships.  You will be taught, Social Media, Programming, Mobile apps Development, Coding, Computer games development, and Cyber security.

Within the IT programme we offer Core Maths, and an opportunity to part of our Coding club. You can obtain as useful addtional qaulification.

You will learn:

You will need:

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)
  • A reference from your previous school/college

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them

You will produce a portfolio of work for each units, which will form the basis of your assessment. This will keep you informed on how you’re doing, where you need to improve your skills, and what your specialisms should be.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
