About The Course

This course will give you the skills to support learning in a wide range of contexts, allowing you to learn, develop and practise for future employment in the learning support sector. This award can also provide an important stepping stone for those in related volunteer roles, taught through a wide range of teaching methods including lectures, group activities, workshops and tutorials.

You will need:

  • English, Maths and ICT at Level 2, or be working towards this level

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

You will be continuously assessed throughout the course. Assessment is subject to internal and external verification.

Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Learners who complete this qualification may wish to progress to other qualifications in Learner Support, such as Level 3 Award for Learning Support Practitioners, and in Teacher Education, such as • Level 3 Award in Education and Training • Level 3 Award in English for Literacy and Language Teaching, and • Level 3 Award in Mathematics for Numeracy Teaching

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
