Site Carpentry – Level 2 Diploma

About The Course

This one year course allows you to learn, develop and practice skills needed to progress into Site Caprentry. You will learn how to use natural materials to install wooden fixtures and fittings in our well- equipped workshops. As well as studying on the course, you will have the opportunity to go out on work experience to understand how you can apply your skills and knowledge to the ‘world of work’.

In this one year course you will cover all of the following topics:

  • Health, safety & welfare in construction
  • Principles of building construction, information and communication.
  • Carry out first fix flooring and roofing.
  • Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
  • Carry out second fixing operations
  • Carry out carpentry maintenance
  • Set up and operate a circular saw
You will need to have 4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 or above, including English and/or Math or a relevant Level 1 Qualification in the construction industry.

You will be assessed through multiple online exams through City & Guilds, practical assessments and short written tests at the end of each topic.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This qualification allows you to progress onto employment or onto a relevant Level 3 Qualification.

  • Junior site carpenter
  • Junior kitchen fitter
  • Junior formwork or shuttering carpenter 
  • Apprentiehsip in Carpentry

 

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
