Supported Internship: Entry Level 3 Project SEARCH

About The Course

Supported internships are a structured study programme based primarily at an employer. They enable young people aged 16-24 with a statement of SEN, or an Education, Health and Care plan to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace. You will receive a high level of support the young person to move into paid employment at the end of the programme. Alongside their time at the employer, young people complete a personalised study programme which includes the chance to study for relevant substantial qualifications, if appropriate, and English and maths. The programme at Orael is supported in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation/Project Search and North Middlesex University Hospital.

Location: London

The “study” element of this programme is limited to 1/2 hours per week. The main body of the programme is spent in rotations being supported to perform Job Roles within the Organisation. Main components of delivery are Employability Skills, Communication Skills, Organisational Skills Presentation Skills (Maths & English) Ability to Self-Reflect and to Peer Assess.Any other specific job/work related skills and qualities.

A current EHCP. A qualification at Entry Level 2. Independent Traveller

You will have reviews regularly with lead job coaches.You will be assessed through a variety of methods based on course requirements and individual needs. For example:

  • Observations
  • Workbooks
  • Practical Activities
  • Questioning
  • Peer feedback

Throughout the course, you will be gathering evidence/information in each unit. There are different methods that evidence can be gathered to meet individual needs.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support when studying at college –please contact us for more information

 

This course will provide employability skills to progress onto further study or in employment.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
