Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools – Level 3 Certificate

About The Course

This course has been specifically designed to teach the skills needed to begin working in schools and develop your understanding of the legislation, relationships and developmental techniques that are required. You will learn about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication. An assessor will visit you at work and observe your interactions with children and staff. You will be asked about the way you approach your job and why. This will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding you have gained in class. You will also collect a portfolio of your activities in your workplace.

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (A*C) or equivalent qualifications at Level 2
  • An Enhanced DBS check

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them

Assessment is by completing a portfolio of evidence via assignments and assessment of skills is through direct observation by the assessor.

Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Employement in a school/college environment as a evel 3 Teaching Assistant or a Learning Support Assistant. You could progress to other childcare courses, Access to Higher Education courses, or higher education.

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
We recommend you apply at least three months before the programme starts to guarantee your place. The application form will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

WHEN WILL I HEAR BACK FROM YOU?
We’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email within 48 hours, if it’s received during normal working hours (Mon-Fri – 09:00-18:00 GMT). We will review and respond to your application within two working days. We do this in order of receipt and acceptance is not automatic.

CAN I RESERVE A PLACE?

WHAT ARE YOUR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS?
The programme is taught in English, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If English is not your first language, we may ask you for evidence of your proficiency.
